I have found that AFA or loveme.com is essentially and primarily focused toward getting men signed up to travel on one of their tours. This is their speciality and likely to be their best offering with the opportunity provided to meet many different ladies in a short space of time. However, if you do not wish to take a tour but instead write to ladies, with the view or intention to arrange a future individual visit, then please be aware of the following points:
1. AFA 'local offices' are professional in all that they do and adopt sneaky tactics and practices bordering on 'illegal' to extract as much money from you as possible whilst letters are exchanged and they will control every aspect of the communication tightly using IMBRA (a US law valid only for US Citizens and not valid for use in any other countries) as an excuse and 'official' line.
2. Certain AFA offices can sometimes suggest a makeover service for the ladies and then use the 'airbrushed' photos to make the ladies look much more attractive than they really are..
3. Profiles featured on site can be up to 5 years old with photos unchanged.
4. In reality certain ladies appearance can be vastly different to that of the profile.
5. Whilst Ukraine is in turmoil and on the brink of a potential civil war, AFA continue to publish new profiles of ladies in Crimea and other parts of Ukraine where Foreigners are not necessarily welcome and if they do visit may be placing their lives in danger. It is highly unlikely you would want to travel to Ukraine whilst the situation is 'fluid' and changeable. Ask yourself this question. Does the USA government actively encourage travel to certain parts of Ukraine including Crimea?
5. AFA does not vet the ladies and therefore takes absolutely no responsibility for the ladies it features on-site. Despite the fact that their intereters and office staff are tightly controlling the communication process.
6. AFA carefully manages its PR and when closely inspected their T&C's reflect that this is not a company that will accept or take criticism nor complaints seriously.
AFA can and does work in certain circumstances, but try to be careful not to become a victim of how this 'cash cow' operates.
In summary, I would not recommend Love Me to a friend.
