I have been a paying member of RussianCupid for some years (since it was RussianEuro) and, in general, I haven't had too many complaints to their organization and work. Technically, it's very reliable service, but it's far from being a perfect service.
They allow non-registered users to browse profiles. It's great! There are some limitations, but it's quite well for the beginning, to see what you can expect. If you want more, you need to register. That's perfectly right. Membership fees are reasonable, although the only logical, economical choice would be the Platinum membership on annual basis. The Platinum status gives the most for requested money - that's sure. Their database of members is huge. That's the point problems begin to appear. They have no mechanism to separate genuine people from scammers of any kind. They don't offer any guarantee that you are about to contact a real woman who really wants to find a life partner. Right, several weeks ago they started to verify members' profiles. However, members aren't obligated to verify their profiles, that's only an option. I have met only 2 (two) women's profiles being marked as verified since they started that process by today, July 4th, 2011.
In contact with somebody on RussianCupid, you must rely only on your common sense; RussianCupid is not going to assist you in any way. They offer a meeting point, while everything else is solely on you. The only assistance they offer is to remove profiles you reported to be some sort of scammer. I have observed same profiles with same photos attached to them appearing, disappearing, re-appearing, etc. It's so annoying! If you cannot recognize a scam attempt and avoid it, you can rely only in God, because RussianCupid is not going to prevent you being scammed. Well, it offers many useful hints how to recognize a scammer, but scammers also read these hints and they adapt so it's not easy to recognize them every time.
I repelled many scam attempts, I haven't lost any money, but it's so irritating! Daily, I receive not less than a dozen signs of interest sent by some obscure profiles without photo, without looking at my profile first, etc.
Of course, there are many genuine people there. There are many beautiful women there. There are many sincere women there. The main problem is recognizing such women. It's like finding a pin in a hay stack. An enormous amount of luck is needed. Many times, I feel that I would have better chance to win all prizes in all Las Vegas casinos in the same night than to find an adequate wife on RussianCupid.
Furthermore, RussianCupid isn't oriented to be user-friendly. Their answers are automated. If you have some personal problem, or you need some advice about something - forget that. They aren't there to do such things!
I almost forgot! Being a paying member (let's say a Platinum member) doesn't grant you any better treatment than being a non-paying member (a Standard member).
Let's summarize!
If you need an affordable dating bulletin board, RussianCupid is a right choice.
If you have plenty of time and want to flirt, RussianCupid is a right choice.
If you want your privacy to be absolutely protected even if you are a sick-minded person, RussianCupid is a right choice.
If you are a Platinum member who wants to be treated as a Standard member, RussianCupid is a right choice.
If you want to find a wife ASAP, you should better pray the God.
If you want to be scam protected, pass.
If you want a service tailored by your needs, forget it!
In summary, I would recommend Russian Cupid to a friend.
