This website is probably 70-90% scam, but the rest seem genuine. This can easily be deflected however, by writing information in your descriptions boxes to the effect that you WILL NOT send out any money over the internet and that you are NOT rich.

If you do this then you will hardly get any attention at all, but the attention that you do get is more likely to be genuine.

I was a regular member about 3 years ago for 12 months & only came across two women who seemed genuinely interested, despite excessive efforts and at least many hundreds of interest ticks on my part.

The first one came along after about 6 months and agreed to exchange messages with me over hotmail. She seemed very enthusiastic (almost TOO enthusiastic), about meeting me, I had some very nice compliments from her regarding my looks and she didn't ask me for any money. - It seemed too good to be true so I told her about my radical Right wing political views and sent her a questionnaire about her background.

That didn't go down too well and she told me in her broken English that we should stop contacting each other, but then I received another email from her less than 24 hours later which was worded in exactly the same way that her first email was worded, which made me suspicious.

I asked her why she had sent an identical email to me as the first she had sent me on hotmail and she said that it was a mistake.

She was attractive in a plain sort of way I suppose but she was very short indeed, her face was very round (almost chubby) and her tone of conversation very straight forward and uninteresting, as if rehearsed.

The second was I think definitely genuine and very attractive. I can't remember her name, but she was this redhead from Kazakhstan. I know that she was most likely genuine because the conversation I had with her was normal - for example I would ask her questions about her background, her neighbourhood ect and she would actually answer them in detail, no matter how obscure the question was.

The emphasis was on having a normal conversation, not on getting me to like her by her paying me compliments all the time and igoring detailed questions.

Moreover, she actually told me that she had a disease - a copper deficiency in her blood that was heritable and claimed that it was possibly curable, (although when I looked it up on the wikipedia there was no known cure). - She even advised me that it would probably be better to look else where because of her disease and seemed to have no interest in asking me for money or favours at all.

If it hadn't been for that one detail I think I would have probably tried to get to know her more and would have actually flown out there to meet her in person. - She WAS very tall and attractive.

I have a new account with them now, but so far I haven't paid any money for a new membership. If I add 1,000 favourites I'll join them for a month or something, just in case 20 or 30 of them are real.

So far I have 480 favourites and I will not even consider joining until I have over 500 - and even then that's me deliberately attempting to filter out all the glossy pictured one's, which all look like those bounty adverts on the subway! lol

I'd recommend using Facebook, since I used this for the purposes of meeting likeminded women last year and after adding and messaging about 50 women, it ACTUALLY WORKED! - I met an 18 year old girl called Jelena and I actually flew out to Serbia and dated her for a week in the summer of 2011. We are still in contact via Facebook however, Facebook now has a new policy of making you name all the people on your friends list by matching their photos to their names in a limited time period.

If you fail first time they'll ask you for your phone number and failing that will in a very short space of time simply terminate your account.

I'd say that using a social networking site such as Facebook as it once was, is as effective or not more effective than Russian Cupid and it's free. - But you see the problem now is that Facebook has recently become a veritable online police state, where it's impossible to add people whose faces you haven't already memorized.

All in all, I'd say give Russian Cupid at least ONE shot, IF you're prepared to spend a lot of time on it and IF you're prepared to take all the precautions that I've already highlighted and IF you're not excessively fat, ugly or otherwise unpleasant and IF you're not chronically underfunded, then I would say you have about a 20% chance of actually finding a reasonably good looking potential bride over the course of about a year. - Keep it up for five years and you only increase your chances, but it's damned expensive and takes up an enormous chunk of your time.

In summary, I would recommend Russian Cupid to a friend.
